There's nothing in the install video about venting through the roof as a traditional toilet does but there is a continuous fan. where is the fan and where does it vent?
A) The Nature's Head toilet includes a small, quiet 12V fan mounted at the toilet's vent outlet. The fan continuously draws air through the composting chamber and exhausts it outside through a 1½-inch vent hose. This constant airflow keeps the unit virtually odor-free. Unlike a traditional flush toilet, it does not require a plumbing vent stack—it simply needs the vent hose routed to an exterior wall or the roof.
Does this toilet vent through the roof as a traditional toilet would
A) No. The Nature's Head Through-the-Floor Urine Diverter Composting Toilet does not require a traditional plumbing vent stack through the roof like a flush toilet.
Instead, it uses a small 12V ventilation fan that continuously pulls air through the composting chamber and exhausts it outdoors through a 1½-inch vent hose. This airflow is what keeps the toilet virtually odor-free.
The vent can be routed:
Through the side wall (common in RVs and vans)
Through the roof
Through the floor in some stationary installations
For RVs and other moving vehicles, Nature's Head specifically notes that venting through the floor is not recommended. Instead, venting through the side wall or roof is recommended
