Rather than accumulating waste in a chamber that must eventually be turned backwards for emptying, the CENTREX 3000's drum moves compost forward along a longer, larger drum until it drops automatically into a collection housing at the end of the unit. Under normal operating conditions, the drum never needs to be reversed for emptying — a meaningful operational advantage for very heavy cottage use or medium residential applications. Like all Centrex systems, the composter installs away from the toilet in a basement, mechanical room, or crawl space, while a 1-pint ultra-low flush toilet (purchased separately) handles the bathroom side.
