Product Description
No power outlet? No problem. The Sun-Mar Excel NE has been the benchmark composting toilet for off-grid living since its launch in 1981. Built on the same proven three-chamber Bio-Drum™ design as the flagship Excel, the Excel NE eliminates the need for a continuous 110V power supply entirely — no fan, no heater, no electrical connection required. Odor control is handled naturally by a 4" chimney-style vent that draws air through the unit the same way a wood stove exhausts smoke. Clean, reliable, and completely self-sufficient, the Excel NE is the go-to composting toilet for cabins, remote camps, tiny homes, hunting shacks, boats, yurts, and any off-grid retreat where power isn't a given.
- Fully Non-Electric Operation — No fan, no heater, no 110V supply needed. The Excel NE runs entirely without electricity, making it the ideal composting toilet for off-grid, solar-powered, or power-limited installations.
- Chimney-Style 4" Vent for Odorless Operation — A 4" vent mounted at the top rear of the unit acts like a chimney on a wood stove, naturally drawing air up and out. When installed vertically and 2–3 feet above the roof peak, the result is completely odorless operation.
- Optional 12V Fan for Challenging Installations — If bends in the vent stack are unavoidable (no more than two 45° bends recommended), or if the unit is used residentially or in a downdraft-prone location, the optional 12V fan can be installed in the vent stack. It draws just 1.4 watts and can be powered by a solar panel and a 12V marine battery.
- High Capacity for Seasonal or Residential Use — Accommodates up to 2 adults or families of 3 for residential use, and up to 5 adults or families of 7 for weekend and vacation use.
- Flexible Installation Anywhere — No sewer lines, running water, or power outlet required. Suitable for cabins, cottages, homes, businesses, resorts, camps, treehouses, workshops, boats, and more.
- 1" Drain with Variable Evaporating Capacity — Because evaporating capacity on the Excel NE is variable, the 1" drain at the rear should be connected to an approved drain pit, container, or other approved facility.
- NSF Certified to Standard 41 — Independently certified by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) to Standard 41 for non-liquid saturating composting toilets.
